The Avarius family is a royal family of kappas that are native to Mewni.
History[]
According to Star vs. the Forces of Evil: The Magic Book of Spells, the Avariuses first came into the Mewni spotlight during the reign of Queen Crescenta Butterfly. Crescenta, wishing to establish a government within the monster population that was overseen by the Butterfly family, organized an election to crown a monster king and queen. She ran the election campaign for Pemma Avarius while also tarnishing her opponents' name and reputation through smear campaigns. Eventually, Pemma and her husband Sudo won the election and were crowned king and queen.
In "Face the Music", Moon Butterfly visits the home of Ludo's parents Lord Brudo and Lady Avarius in search of Ludo and the Book of Spells he stole. Brudo and his wife don't know where Ludo is and express bitterness over him seizing control of Castle Avarius and bringing shame to their family, but Ludo's younger brother Dennis helps Moon track Ludo down. The names of several of Ludo's siblings are also mentioned in the episode.
In "Starcrushed", Ludo mentions his older brother Chudo.
In "Ludo, Where Art Thou?", Dennis uses Ludo's dimensional scissors to figure out where he's been living since the events of The Battle for Mewni. Here, it is revealed that Dennis lives under constant verbal abuse by his parents for defending Ludo.
In "Princess Quasar Caterpillar and the Magic Bell", Dennis finally moves out of his parents' home and buys back the deed to Castle Avarius. After a brief run-in with a scamming landowner, Ludo, Dennis, and some of their brothers and sisters work together to repair the castle.

- In "The Hard Way", Ludo states that he was one egg born out of a clutch of 50. Himself included, only 13 of those brothers and sisters have been named.
- In "Face the Music", Lady Avarius names Yudo and Zudo as being among her sons. However, in "Princess Quasar Caterpillar and the Magic Bell", Yudo and Zudo are female, not male.
- In "Face the Music", Brudo claimed to Moon that he and his wife treated Ludo the way they did to "toughen him up". But in "Ludo, Where Art Thou?", it is revealed that they treat all their children the same way, implying that Brudo was lying to Moon.
