Yeah, if I had any doubts about the wand being possessed by Toffee, which is influencing Ludo, I don't anymore.
Its pretty obvious what his TRUE plan was, he knew at the time Ludo was a weak-tier villain, so he set in place a chain of events that would give him the tragic upbringings to make him super-crazy evil-ALL-while mentoring him from the great beyond.
I guess Toffee is possessing the wand... "Fortune Cookie" even stated that he was a dangerous force of evil, so it wouldn't make sense for him to be killed in "Storm the Castle". Toffee must be planning something, and he's possessing the wand to get it.
I'd like to think either the "dangerous force of evil" was setting Toffee up as the true villain of Season 1 (so he dies there then Season 2 Ludo builds a new army and possibly pairs up with Miss Heinous), or else with his hand as the wand (we all know that's his hand, it's missing that finger), his power is now being used by Ludo.
Or maybe he's a ghost and tied to the wand, Supernatural style...
Anyway, haven't had a chance to see it yet
Now I've seen it, there is definitely some presence inside the wand so maybe it is Toffee's spirit. (I don't think the same holds true for a certain other villain's horn, but this is Star vs. the Forces of Evil, who's to say ghosts aren't canon here?) There is going to be a big finale, that's for sure.
On a side note, is this the first episode Star doesn't appear in?
This was quite a suspenseful episode. Seeing Buff Frog confronted by his old boss was quite a solid moment (as was Buff Frog hitting him in the face). I can't wait to see where events on Mewni go next.
The ending really struck me and I can tell there's going to be a lot of tension. So excited for the finale!

Well, she didn't appear in "Ludo in the Wild", Ludo was just hallucinating. She also appeared early in the episode, but hat was just a flashback.
