David Richard Paul "Dave" Wittenberg is an American voice actor and writer who provides voiceovers in numerous cartoons, video games, and English dubs of anime, most notably as Kakashi Hatake in the Naruto series.

He provides additional voices in Star vs. the Forces of Evil.

Early life[]

Wittenberg was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. After working at a college radio station, he worked at Boston's WBCN for three years.

Career[]

Wittenberg is well-known for providing voiceovers in the many English dubs of many anime series, cartoons, and video games. His best-known role is as Kakashi Hatake in the Naruto series and video game adaptations. Other major roles in anime include Henry Wong in Digimon Tamers, Subaru Sumeragi in X, Kaoru Hanabishi in Ai Yori Aoshi, Michael Lee in Witch Hunter Robin, Takumi Fujiwara in the Tokyopop dub of Initial D, Saito in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, and Gino Weinberg in Code Geass.

In Western animation, Wittenberg has voiced Numbuh 74.239 and other characters in Codename Kids Next Door, Upchuck in Ben 10, Time Baby in Gravity Falls, Bash Johnson in Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja, and Franz's singing voice in the Disney animated film Planes.

In video games, Wittenberg has voiced various characters in the Tony Hawk's series, Allen Ridgeley in the Xenosaga series, Kefka Palazzo in Dissidia: Final Fantasy, the Mad Doctor in Epic Mickey, Trigger Happy in the Skylanders series, and the Vision in Marvel Heroes.

Wittenberg is also a script writer for some dubbed anime, including some episodes of Digimon: Digital Monsters and IGPX, and he has narrated many documentaries and specials for the Travel Channel and Food Network.
