Giancarlo Volpe is an Italian-American television writer, animator, director, and producer known for his work on Avatar: The Last Airbender, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series.

He was an episode writer/storyboard artist and director of Star vs. the Forces of Evil for season 2 and one episode of season 3.[1]

Early life[]

Volpe majored in illustration at the Art Institute of Seattle in 1994, and he graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 1997 with a B.A. in animation.

Career[]

After graduating from the School of Visual Arts, Volpe began his career at Humongous Entertainment, animating on the children's computer games Pajama Sam 2: Thunder and Lightning Aren't so Frightening and Putt-Putt Enters the Race. He moved to Fox in 1998 to work on King of the Hill as a character layout artist, storyboard artist, and assistant director.

In 2004, Volpe directed 19 episodes of the Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender, for which he won an Annie Award for the episode "The Drill". In 2008, he moved to Lucasfilm Animation as an episodic director on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, where he worked directly with famed filmmaker George Lucas. In 2011, Volpe produced the CG-animated television show Green Lantern: The Animated Series, working with animation producer Bruce Timm. In 2014, he directed and produced the Warner Bros. direct-to-video film JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time.

Volpe is also the creator and illustrator of his own webcomic called God of Love.
