John Robert Mathot is an American writer, storyboard artist, director, producer, and actor known for his work on The Simpsons, Phineas and Ferb, and Skylanders Academy and for co-creating the Cartoon Network pilot Bagboy!
He is an episode writer/storyboard artist on Star vs. the Forces of Evil. He also provides the voice of the VHS Depot manager in "Red Belt".
Early life[]
Mathot graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a B.F.A. in film/video animation.
Career[]
Mathot has worked in the animation industry for over 17 years. His longest-running position has been as a storyboard artist/revisionist on The Simpsons. He has also provided storyboards for Hey Arnold!, Duckman, Dilbert, Futurama, Family Guy, and Phineas and Ferb (for which he was also a writer).
Mathot has also created and developed his own animated content. He co-created and directed Bagboy! for Cartoon Network in 2002, created, wrote, and directed Fred Again for Warner Bros. Online's Cartoon Monsoon in 2003, and wrote and directed The 'Wood' for Starz Media in 2006. He is also a regular cast member for the animated web series 30-Second Bunnies Theatre.
Most recently, Mathot has served as supervising director on Skylanders Academy. For his work on Phineas and Ferb, Mathot was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 2016.
