Keith David Williams, known professionally as Keith David, is an African-American actor, voice actor, comedian, and singer well-known for his voice-over work, including Goliath in Gargoyles, Tublat in The Legend of Tarzan, and Dr. Facilier in The Princess and the Frog.

He voices Glossaryck in Star vs. the Forces of Evil from the episode "Conquer" onward, replacing Jeffrey Tambor.

Early life[]

David was born in Harlem and raised in Corona, Queens. His mother, Dolores, was a manager at New York Telephone, and his father, Lester Williams, worked as a director of payroll operations.

He initially intended to become an actor after playing the Cowardly Lion in a school production of The Wizard of Oz and went on to study at Manhattan's High School of Performing Arts. He attended the Juilliard School's Drama Division (1975–1979, Group 8) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1979.

Career[]

David was the voice of Goliath in Gargoyles, the title character in the Spawn animated series, and Lemuel Kane in Archer. He also provided the voices for Decker in Fallout and Vhailor in Planescape: Torment.

Other voice roles of David's include Atlas in Teen Titans, the lone renegade male gorilla Tublat in The Legend of Tarzan, and Barricade in Transformers: The Game.

In film, David has appeared in Platoon, The Quick and the Dead, They Live, Men at Work, Marked for Death, Stars and Bars, Volcano, Armageddon, There's Something About Mary, Pitch Black, Barbershop, Agent Cody Banks, The Chronicles of Riddick, Crash, ATL, Delta Farce, and First Sunday.

In 2010, David was cast as Max Malini in NBC's The Cape. In 2013, he appeared in the controversial drama Boiling Pot. In 2014, David played Command Sergeant Major Donald Cody in the Fox comedy series Enlisted and was cast as Elroy Patashnik in the sixth season of Community. In 2015, David was cast in the leading role alongside Lynn Whitfield in the OWN drama series, Greenleaf.
