Sage Cotugno[note 1] is an American writer, storyboard artist, character designer, and webcomic creator known for their work on Gravity Falls and for their original webcomic The Glass Scientists.
They were an episode writer/storyboard artist on Star vs. the Forces of Evil as of season 2 and a director as of season 3.
Early life[]
Cotugno graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 2008 and from the California Institute of the Arts in 2012 with a B.F.A. in character animation. They were also an exchange student at Gobelins L'École de L'Image in Paris in 2010.
Career[]
Cotugno began their career as a character designer for MISTIK Studios in 2009. They were also a story and art intern at Pixar Studios from 2010 to 2012; they worked on designs and model sheets for The Good Dinosaur. They later became a visual development trainee at Walt Disney Studios, working with directors to create character designs for early story pitches.
Starting in 2013, Cotugno was a freelance character designer and illustrator for Disney Television Animation on shows like Wander Over Yonder and Gravity Falls, the latter for which they were also a storyboard artist/revisionist.
Cotugno is also the creator and illustrator of their own webcomic called The Glass Scientists and the short comic Bleeding Heart.
