Solarian Army[]

Origins[]

Note: The following information is from Star vs. the Forces of Evil: The Magic Book of Spells.

During the reign of Queen Solaria, she waged a war against all of the monsters in Mewni. In order to combat them, she used a combination of three ancient spells to create the Solarian Warriors, one of the first having been Mina Loveberry. As the number of warriors grew, they eventually became known as the Solarian Army. With their combined might, they succeeded in retaking their land from the monsters. The monsters then invaded the Cloud Kingdom, but were again thwarted by the Solarian Army. During a siege of Butterfly Castle, the Solaria wrote that she awaited the arrival of the Solarian Army for assistance. They were eventually joined by the Cloud Kingdom warriors as well as that of the kingdom of the Underworld, driving the monsters away.

Solaria wrote that she stayed as the leader of the Solarian Warriors, and it is implied that the army collapsed following her death. Mina Loveberry is the only known surviving warrior.

Revival[]

S4E33 Army of hundreds of Solarian Warriors

Once Eclipsa Butterfly was brought back into power after her revival, Mina Loveberry rounded up a group of peasants who were unpleased with the change in leadership and reestablished the Solarian Army. After rounding up her followers, she collected the remnants of the gigantic suits of armor from around Mewni for her army to use to defeat the monsters. With the help of Moon Butterfly, the peasants and her pet crow Sebastian were underwent Solarian Metamorphosis and prepared for their battle with Eclipsa. They were joined by the Magic High Commission, who agreed with their decision to remove Eclipsa from the throne.

The first Solarian attack occurred in "Ready, Aim, Fire," when one of the giant armored suits attacked New Monstertown. Globgor tried to fight it off, but it attacked him with its glowing energy sword, mortally wounding him. Eclipsa would defeat this suit in "The Right Way," but soon after, Mina would arrive with hundreds more. Meanwhile, Star and Marco had built up a small resistance group who they planned to use to help fight back against the warriors. In "Here to Help," Mina threatens Eclipsa and demands her surrender, but Eclipsa refuses. Eventually it is discovered that Moon had betrayed Eclipsa and had helped to revitalize the Solarian Warriors. After learning that Moon will call of the attack if Eclipsa surrenders, she complies and hands over the wand. But when Moon tried to tell Mina that the war was over, Mina refused to comply. In "Pizza Party," Moon attempted to take away her powers, but failed, as the Solarian Warriors had pledged themselves to Queen Solaria. Mina then tried to attack them, but they escaped through a portal.

In "The Tavern at the End of the Multiverse," Mina had gathered all the monsters onto the edge of a cliff and was going to prepare to shove them off. However, with the absence of Globgor, Mina wasn't satisfied. Because of this, she and her army decided to set out to find him. Meanwhile, Star had come to the conclusion that the only way to defeat Mina was to destroy all magic. In "Cleaved," Mina and her army eventually run into River and Eddie carrying Globgor away, but after learning of where they were headed to the Magic Sanctuary, Mina decided to head there instead in order to confront Star and the other queens. Mina eventually makes her way inside, but is defeated by a Millhorse. At the end of the episode, all magic is destroyed, thus causing all of the Solarian Warriors to have their powers revoked.

Trivia[]

  • The First Queen of Mewni was said to have created warriors in order to fight off monsters when the Mewmans first settled in Mewni. Solaria also implies that the spells she used were preexisting. This may imply that the First Queen of Mewni was the true creator of the Solarian Warriors.
  • Solaria's negative reaction to Mina may imply that she no longer supports the efforts of the Solarian Army.
