Hi guys! So in addition to the ideas of having a sequel series, sequel movie, or Season 5, there has also been whisperings for the desire for a comic for the series. And since I already pitched my idea for a movie, I feel it only appropriate to also pitch a set of potential comic series that I think would be most beneficial to the franchise. Keep in mind, these aren't continuations so much as they are expansions of the TV show. I feel this is better since a movie would be a bolder declaration of a finale - not to mention I have already pitched a movie.
And as a first order of business I will say this: GIVE THE PUBLISHING RIGHTS TO IDW. As we all know, the previous attempt at a Star vs. comic ended in disaster, and I think that was in part due to it coming from a little-known publisher. IDW's publishing model is probably the most adept at taking over Star vs., and they've been doing well with DuckTales, so I don't see why they wouldn't go even further. So without further ado, here are the three Star vs. the Forces of Evil comic series I want to happen:
1. The Queens of Mewni: A 35-issue limited prequel series, this series will showcase the stories of every queen of Mewni prior to Moon, starting with the first queen and ending with Comet. The issues will deal with their lives before, during, and/or after becoming queen, as well as provide further details into who they truly were outside the Book of Spells, and the stories that led to their tapestries. Examples of stories to be featured include:
- The first queen (and other settlers) being brought to Mewni by Glossaryck, overthrowing the monsters, and founding the Butterfly Kingdom.
- Solaria's motivations for her hatred of monsters, her conquests, and her ultimate accepting of monsters in her final moments when she realizes that her own hatred got her killed.
- Eclipsa's initial relationship with Globgor, fleeing the kingdom for him, and ultimately getting crystallized by Rhombulus.
- Rhina predicting the destruction of magic.
- Celena's hidden power, concealed behind her fan.
- Comet's relationship with Seth, and how it led to Toffee killing her.
2. Star and Marco's Interdimensional Adventures: An interquel series, this one starts off retelling the events of "Star Comes to Earth", and then picks up after the events of "Blood Moon Ball", ultimately culminating with "Here to Help". Each issue is a self-contained story about Star and Marco travelling to a unique dimension and going on an adventure there, with most being original stories while others retell events of certain episodes (such as "Curse of the Blood Moon" and "The Knight Shift"). Despite the self-contained nature, it also uses a narrative through line in which Star and Marco's thoughts are internalized, detailing their motivations in regards to each other and the world around them, and how they fall in love over the course of the series. These thoughts are told through flashback narration from both characters, simultaneously or not, to an unknown character. I don't have many direct new ideas for certain issues, the only concrete one being a direct sequel to "Running with Scissors" in which Star rehabilitates Marco back to life on Earth. Other than that, it's basically pick a dimension (or have a new one) and have an adventure there.
3. The People of the Multiverse: Another interquel series though also a prequel, this series takes place over the span of the show AND prior to it. Each of the issues has a supporting or guest character act as the protagonist, giving us more detail into each of them (particularly characters who did not receive much background context in the series prior), although Star and Marco may occasionally be present as supporting characters. Characters and stories that would work well for this include:
- Higgs and the other squires (a story involving their training, plus Marco)
- Sean
- The Stump
- Mr. Candle (who he is and why)
- Rasticore (how he went from Toffee to Heinous)
- Eddie
- The Pie Folk (why they act the way they do)
- Ruberiot, Foolduke, and Mime Girl
- Lavabo
- The Demoncism Cult
- Tom's family
- Manfred
- Globgor (his history prior to meeting Eclipsa)
- Talon
- Quirky Guy
- Jorby
- Baby
- Omnitraxus Prime
- Ludo's monsters (when they and Ludo first met Star)
- Toffee (full-blown origins)
So what do you guys think? I know a lot of you also have ideas for a comic, so feel free to leave them down below, and if you want, you can comment on my ideas. Thanks guys!
